International Museum Day
The International Museum Day is celebrated every year on May 18. It was created by the International Council of Museums in 1977 with the purpose of highlighting the role of museums in cultural exchange, education, and the development of societies.

The theme highlighted the role of museums as spaces that can:
encourage dialogue between cultures,

The celebration also marked the 80th anniversary of the International Council of Museums, founded in 1946.
