El Salvador celebrates its patron saint festivities during the first week of August every year in honor of The Divine Savior of the World (Divino Salvador del Mundo). This celebration also includes the national August holidays, when Salvadorans and international visitors flock to tourist destinations, taking advantage of a week away from work.

Public sites across El Salvador recorded 2,049,479 visits during the holiday period from August 1 to August 5, 2026, according to the Presidential Press Secretariat on its X social media account.
This represents an increase of 197,461 visits, equivalent to a 10.7% increase compared with the 1,852,018 visits recorded during the same period in 2025.
International visitors.
The number of international visitors exceeded 62,700 between July 31 and August 4, according to government information.

The Historic Center of San Salvador was the most visited destination during the holiday week, receiving 717,285 visitors.

Public cultural sites ranked second, with 129,524 visitors.

Public tourist sites followed, with 121,405 visitors.
These sites include:
- National parks.
- Protected natural areas.
- Public beaches and recreational areas.
- Archaeological sites.
- Museums.
- Lakes and public water parks.
- Public squares and urban spaces of tourist interest.
The figures also include 98,053 visits to public beaches, 64,730 visits to public mountain destinations, and 8,482 visits to natural areas.
