El Salvador is a pioneer in family tourism.
El Salvador is the first country in the world to receive the Family Friendly Seal, thanks to an initiative led by First Lady Gabriela de Bukele and supported by the UN World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism). This seal ensures that families can visit safe and high-quality destinations.
Why El Salvador Is Becoming a Family-Friendly Destination
El Salvador has launched a Family Friendly tourism strategy endorsed by the UN World Tourism Organization (UN WTO).
This new “Family Friendly Seal” is awarded to destinations that meet standards of safety, accessibility, and comfort for families with children, teenagers, and older adults.
A national family tourism strategy that promotes experiences for all members of the family.
Many of our spaces, services, and establishments are already adapted to better serve families. Through this alliance with UN Tourism, we will train staff from our public institutions and private companies to strengthen our tourism offerings.
The first Salvadoran sites certified with the seal are:
1 Parque Infantil de Diversiones
2 Palacio Nacional
3 Teatro Nacional
4 Sunset Park Amusement Park
5 National Museum of Anthropology,
6 National Library of El Salvador (BINAES)
7 Saburo Hirao Natural Park
8 Teatro Presidente
9 El Boquerón Natural Park
10 San Sebastián Tourist Terminal
11 Cerro Verde Natural Park.

With this initiative, El Salvador is positioning itself as a destination where families can enjoy nature, culture, and recreation together — in a safe and welcoming environment.
